I recently found this Thanksgiving crafts for children packet in my files. I created it a number of years ago. Since this site is about using less worksheets and providing children with more experiences, I hesitated to post it.
When I looked at it the other day, I thought it was fun and full of ideas that are easy to adapt so I’m posting it anyway!
I like activities that integrate art, literacy and math.
The pack contains instructions for sponge painted ABCs turkeys and math turkeys that can be used to teach repeat patterns, counting and/or addition.
It also contains some fun facts about turkeys to share with your students. Did you know that a group of turkeys is called a rafter or that the long, fleshy thing growing from a turkey’s head is called a snood?
For those of you who prefer patterns to creating your own shapes, they are also included in the pack. Once all children have made turkeys, they make a colorful addition to your Autumn bulletin boards. Just add some Autumn leaves.
